Why, Hello there.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my little corner of cyberspace. I'm Brian Steppenwolf, author of The Lows, the Lewd, and the Light and all-around everyman, otherwise. I have two cats. I work a standard day job. I keep house and do yard work. I read, write, and avoid 'rithmetic.

When I am not doing life, I try to travel, but I have never been to Provincetown, Puerto Vallarta, or Fire Island. Take away my gay card, I guess. I do love musical theater, though, so on second thought, give it back. :)

May 17, 2026 Update
Oh, hi, friends! I'm baaaaaaack! I pulled the website down for the past month or so in order to refresh and re-brand... and to prepare for the release of this lovely little novel of mine.

​Note the title change. I'll be sharing more about the "whys" of the new title in a blog post here soon.

Distribution will only be direct to you from this website right here. I experimented with working through the "big-box" ecosystems and found their methods and channels to be lacking for what this project is and means to me.

The Lows, the Lewd, and the Light (3L as I'm calling it) will only be released in ultra-limited edition bespoke hardcover. I think it is a pretty story that deserves an altogether pretty treatment. Plus, I love fussing over aesthetics, and this way, I can design down to the smallest of details to give you a truly beautiful final product.

Everything is further along than it seems. Right now, I am preparing to proof the final print product. I'm sure there will be micro adjustments needed, but once those are made, next comes the cover reveal and the release date announcement! So, basically, I'll BRB!
